Ramesh Tamang's experience in Chennai Marathon 2013 - 1st Dec, 2013.

Sharing the experience of Ramesh Tamang, who ran Chennai Half Marathon in 1hr 29mins but he has many regrets for not doing it better. Thanks to Mohanraj for translating his note from Nepali to English.
Dear all ! I am going to share My Experience of Wipro Chennai Marathon 2013, which was one of the most memorable Marathons of my life. To be honest it was a Marathon with strange and bitter experiences. I was slower than in Mumbai Marathon and Hyderabad marathon. I was expecting to Run at my personal best timing, which unfortunately turned out to be opposite. I Started well and completed my Run, but it was not my personal best timing. It's not that I didn't practice for it. I followed a Strict Running Schedule and was under practice and constant Guidance. The main reason for it was my improper use of speed and stamina during Run. I decided to Run at fast pace and ran first 9 to 10 kms at a high speed. But after that I realised that it was a bad idea because I started getting slower and started feeling exhausted in next 4 to 5 Kms. I was trying to put my best effort to get back to my maximum speed, but I was getting slower and slower with every move. I tried to overcome it, but it seemed that my physical endurance had given up. Next unfortunate reason was the Rain, which started just couple of minutes after the Marathon was started. I was completely wet and secondly I was feeling a mild pain inside my abdomin (Stomach). I thought it was because of the cold by getting wet in the Rain and also due to the Foods which we were having randomly. Foods were totally different than we basically eat at home. The Foods were sour and high on spices. Plus, we were out of Regular Running Schedule for 9 consecutive Days including Travel and rested for long time after reaching Chennai.
.
Beside these factors, there is other reason for my bad performance. Though, I was physically prepared and fit for run, but mentally and psychologically not in good shape. We had a very bad experience during our travel to Chennai. Our Money got stolen in the train, which made me very sad from inside. After the money was stolen, I was trying to convince and motivate myself for the run but I was feeling guilty for not being responsible and losing the money. I was concerned what Roshni Di, Premika Di and rest members of the Team would think of me. They were obviously embarrassed with my behavior and I felt like, I was taking their trust for granted. I was preparing myself to keep calm and motivated as I didn't wanted to loose their faith on me. As prepared I tried to put my best efforts and skills in my Run but something went wrong and I failed to give my best. I am deeply sad and sorry for what happened. But as they said whatever happens it happens for good. Though my run was not as expected, but it was a great learning experience for me. I learned about the necessity of Continuous follow up of proper Running Schedule and diet. I always used to think myself as Good Runner as I was in practice and had not experienced any physical pain or restrain during or after my Runs till date. But in this Marathon my perception has changed. I learned how to keep that intact with constant Practice Schedule. I will carry this experience in my future runs and try to overcome my Faults. I will overcome my bad performance in Chennai Marathon.
Lastly, I would like to convey my Deepest gratitude and thanks to Roshni Di who always stood as our guide and mentor, Premika Di who always stood by us in everything. It's their love, Inspiration and guidance which keep us going. It's because of their sincere efforts we are getting opportunity to run different Marathons. I would also like to thank Preeti di and her friends who immensely extend their all possible support during our stay in Chennai. With all your love, support and blessing, we will definitely reach our highest goal and make all of you proud. Once again. THANK YOU ALL

Puran's experience in Chennai Half Marathon 2013 on 1st Dec, 2013.

Puran Rai, ran Chennai Half Marathon (21km) on 1st Dec, 2013 in 1hr 26mins. He has written his note in Nepali language and translation is done by Mohan Raj.

First of all I would like thank everyone who extended their possible support to us for Running the Chennai Marathon, specially Roshni Di and Premika Di for all love and Guidance.

It was Prabal, Runesh and Ramesh who were selected and Registered for running Chennai Marathon but due to some unavoidable Family Concerns Prabal expressed his inability to run. Hence I was advised to replace him. I was happy and excited to be selected but sad also for Prabal. May be it was my destiny to run Chennai Marathon 2013. Following Premika Di's Instructions, we gathered at her Shop on 26th November, where she discussed about necessary things about the Run and handover us required items for the same. Highly motivated, we started our journey to Chennai on 27th Nov, 2013 and reached on 29thNov, 2013.

We called up Preeti Di and informed her about our situation and told her about our arrival at Youth Hostel which was arranged prior for us. She was happy to hear us and informed us to meet her at Chennai Trade Center(CTC) on 30th November. Pratipal sir also called us and ask about our situation and guide us with his advices. We rested well at the Hostel and everything was comfortable and nice for us. It was a memorable stay at Chennai Youth Hostel.

Next Day, as instructed, we reached CTC at 0800 HRS with Preeti Di who helped us along with others to get us our BiB Collection and necessary formalities. They were very helpful in everything.

1st December- the Marathon Day. .Marathon Began at 0515 HRS .We began our Run with Full enthusiasm and Stamina but unfortunately it started raining. Though we completed our Run. My Personal Timing was 1:26:57 which was not the best time at all

Unlike Me, Other runners also tried to put their best efforts in their run, but somehow failed to get the best result. I was not happy with my Performance. But I was console myself by saying that I was out of Practice for long time. I was not well prepared as other runners, so there was an exception for me. To add more to it we were not following proper Diet from first day of our Journey. We were eating Randomly and Food we were eating were completely different than what we commonly eat at home. There were lots of factors behind our bad result inChennai Marathon 2013. As I said I was not happy but satisfied as I get to learn a lot about the Long distance Running.

I learned about the necessity of Proper Running Schedule and Proper Diet which somehow affect our Running Endurance and Stamina. To be precise it was a Mixed experience for me and of course a Good Learning Experience ! THANKS to everyone who made it possible for me!”
